Technology makes a daily difference
For Freddy Sarkis, the future of the greenhouse industry revolves around technology. The Leamington native has seen firsthand how the industry has progressed thanks to innovation. Sarkis exclusively oversees distribution and support for MJ-Tech Fog Systems and Bogaerts Greenhouse Logistics (BGL), two recognized technology leaders in the horticultural industry. “Over the years, I’ve built many relationships in the industry,” explains Sarkis. “I’ve always been customer-driven, so my goal is to help growers succeed by looking for ways to continually improve.” Only working with partners who share this dedication and vision, Sarkis’s guiding passion is to help growers operate as efficiently as possible. “It’s great to see how such technologies can help growers excel in daily operations.”
Both MJ-Tech and BGL have been active in the North American market for years. “The rapidly developing market demands high-tech solutions and we’ve been looking for a partner who fully understands the horticultural industry,” says Ruud van Aperen of MJ-Tech. His company’s high-pressure fog systems help growers cool their facilities on hot days, and control humidity levels for optimal climates. The system is ideal for a wide range of breeding, including potted plants, cut flowers, cannabis, soft fruits, and vegetables – crops that all benefit from humidity control and reduced stress.
Every greenhouse is unique, with different construction, crops, and climate control philosophies. But one thing is common: more and more growers realize that a high-pressure fogging system is a key element in an advanced greenhouse. Several technologies have driven this realization, most notably the MJ-Tech Fog System. “The 575-600V MPU-40 version was developed specifically for the Canadian market and it shows commitment,” notes Sarkis. It is particularly valuable because it does not require investment in a transformer. Most other high-pressure fogging suppliers would require a transformer because they are not 575/600V. What’s more, with local inventory, the MJ-Tech Fog System can be configured-to-order to ensure good lead times.
At Bogaerts Greenhouse Logistics, the product range includes pipe rail trolleys, harvest carts, and spraying carts, as well as turnkey logistics automation solutions. With limited labour availability a major concern for growers and the up-scaling occurring in the greenhouse industry, BGL’s solutions have helped many growers. “With Freddy as our partner, we hope to serve growers across North America,” says Joris Bogaerts, CEO of BGL.
Looking to the future, Sarkis is eager to assist more companies in expanding their presence in North America. “Having built amazing relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers, I want to partner with the best technology providers in the world to support both established growers and new industry entrants,” says Sarkis.
